Our Camping Journal

Tim came up with the idea that I should make a journal to keep in our trailer so we can write down things that happen, thoughts, etc. on our camping trips. This is what I came up with. I used a TAC set that I hadn't even inked up yet (shame on me!) called The Great Outdoors. The paper I used is SU - can't remember which series it is! I used Really Rust paper to go with it, and typed the title on the computer. I coloured the bears with my SU markers. I stamped "camping", "hiking", & "fishing" all over the front and back cover because that is what we do!!

Autumn Mouse

This is one of the cards we will be making at the workshop next week. The layout is one of Verve Visual's MOJO Monday's...can't remember which one!!! The card base is Tangerine Tango, and I rolled on an acorn wheel in the same ink. The scallop circle is Chocolate Chip, and the stripes are Soft Sky & Chocolate Chip. The sentiment is from High Hopes. The stamp is a House Mouse one I've had for a very long time, but he is still one of my faves! The brads are from Michael's.

Sock Monkey Mania!!

I got my new Stampin Up! stamp sets awhile ago, but with the start of the school year, my crafting has been in a bit of a lull. I am planning my first workshop of the season for next Friday & I really wanted to use the new sets Sock Monkey & Sock Monkey Accessories. SOOO Cute!! And for any of you who had Sock Monkeys growing up, you can relate to the "odd cuteness" about the monkeys!!! I made a few, trying to decide which to use at the workshop, and these were my choices. I won't tell you which one I chose - cuz it's a surprise!! This first one is a TOTAL case from someone on SCS - Thanks Patti Lee!!! The base is Riding Hood Red, then Barely Banana (I stamped the banana accessory all over in Barely Banana ink); I layered the circles with Riding Hood Red and white, then cut out the monkey's head and attached him to the white circle. I stamped the grey with Linen Background, then stamped the monkey's head to give him that "sock" texture. I paper pieced his mouth, attached the birthday hat and a pom pom. The sentiment is from Celebrate everything (SU).
The card base is Going Gray, then Riding Hood Red, then Bella Rose DP. This one I did the same with the monkey, stamped the grey with Linen Background, then stamped the monkey. I paper pieced the grey part of his body & glued it on. I also paper pieced his mouth. The sentiment is from the Sock Monkey set.
This card is a very basic layout - as I thought it would give the girls some freedom to put whatever they wanted in the monkey's hand & choose an appropriate sentiment. Same colours were used & I did the same thing with his body as the card above.

Thanks for checking out my monkeys!!!! (LOL)

Our WICKED camping trip!!!

We went camping again last weekend & had so much fun!! We went to a place called Bleriot Ferry Provincial Recreation Area. It is NW of Drumheller right on the Red Deer River. It was GORGEOUS out there!!! It POURED Friday night but Sat. and Sun. were the perfect Autumn days!!!! Bleriot Ferry is a small ferry that takes cars across the Red Deer River - about 42 feet, along a highway that goes behind Drumheller. It was fun!!! Drumheller is famous for it's Royal Tyrrell Dinosaur Museum, as many fossils and dinosaur bones have been found in the Drumheller Badlands. The hills you see in these pictures are world famous badlands!! Here are some pics of our trip!
Here is a pic of our site & our little trailer!! We were far away from everyone else, and were surrounded by trees so Brick could play & run off his leash for the most part!!! We always look for the best place for him.....what a spoiled dog eh??? The campsite had about 28 sites, and there were probably 7 or 8 sites with people in them. I could see it getting really full in the summer though!!!

The gorgeous sunset.

Me hanging by the fire! Tim was playing around with the colours on the camera (Black & White and Sepia)

Here is us waiting to get on the ferry - total trip across was about 4 minutes!!! LOL The ferry was on guidewires. The FerryMan has the BEST job!! He had 2 dogs & they were loving every second of their day!!!! Tim wants his job!!! LOL

Brick swimming in the Red Deer River.
The hills...aren't they cool??

Brick and my awesome fire!!!

My sleepy boy - he was SOME tired Sat. night!!!
The path to the river which was about 20 feet from our campsite!!

The Red Deer River

Tim & I at Horse Thief Canyon. So named because apparently back in the 20s, many horses would go missing from this canyon, and would be found later with a different brand.

The poser!!! He RAN all the way to the bottom of the canyon and then up again - he was a bit pooped after that!!! It was a LONG way down!!!

Tim & Brick exploring a little cave. In the summer, these hills are FULL of Rattlesnakes....yuck!!!!

Thanks for sticking around and checking out our adventures!!!! Hope you enjoyed them!
